uninstall pokki

Chris henderson Mar 31, 2013 04:28PM PDT

I am using a 64 bit computer with windows 7 and want to unistall pokki.
Pokki does not show up in the control panel (uninstall a program)
I can delete it from REGEDIT but when I restart my computer it does not boot, and then restores the pokki file. How can I completely remove this program from my computer?

Hi Chris,

Please do the following to remove Pokki.

Pokki processes
1. If Pokki is displaying on your taskbar, please right-click the taskbar and select → Toolbars → Pokki (if not, begin with #2)
2. Right-click the taskbar and open your Task Manager
3. Click on the processes tab, if you see any pokki processes running, please kill them.

Ensuring Pokki is completely removed
1. Open an explorer window (ex. any folder will do)
2. Copy/paste into the address bar: localappdata (there should be a percentage sign placed at the front and end of localappdata) and hit the Enter key on the keyboard
3. You should not see a Pokki folder. If you do, please delete it

You can also verify that it no longer exists in the registry:
1. Open regedit (search for it in the start menu search if you are unfamiliar on how to get to it)
2. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pokki
3. Delete the Pokki folder
4. Restart your computer.

Hello cornand,

Even if the PC security is blocking Pokki, you should still see an option to uninstall it within the uninstall control panel option. Is it not listed in there? If not, please follow the same steps above.

I am running Win 7 64 bit
Did these steps, and Pokki is still lingering.
I have gone through the registry and found no instances of Pokki anywhere, yet its toolbar option is resurrected at each reboot.

Hi John,

This generally means that the deskband file is left, you will need to make sure the Pokki folder has been completely removed.

I would first start by right-clicking the taskbar and going to Toolbars. You should see Pokki in the list (or a blank field with a check next to it), select that to remove Pokki from the taskbar.

1. Open the Task Manager (right-click the taskbar and select the Task Manager)
2. Click on the Processes tab
3. Find either explorer.exe or Windows Explorer, select it, and either click End task or end process (varies between OS’s. You can also select the process by right-clicking and choosing to end the process)
4. In the Task Manager, click File → Run (or run task)
5. Type localappdata into the path and hit Enter on the keyboard (there should be a percentage sign placed at the front and end of localappdata)
6. Delete the Pokki folder
7. In Task Manager, type ‘explorer.exe’ (without the ’) and hit Enter on the keyboard to reload the desktop

Dear Support,

I have removed Pokki from my laptop (Win7, 32bit) following your above mentioned steps listed in your post from April 1st 2013.

I no longer see anything related to Pokki when surching my laptop, but every time I restart I receive the following pop-up: C\users\xxxx\appdata\local\pokki\engine\launchdeskband.dll

Thx to provide your input on how this can be removed/stopped.

Kind regards,

Hello Francoise,

Please use the following program

This should remove the additional registry entries. If you still encounter this problem then I will help you manually remove the registry entry.

Hi Support,

I did all the steps above and run the PokkiCleanup.exe too. Pokki doesn't appear on the toolbar anymore but I notice it is still on the list of "Toolbars"(when you right click the toolbar, put the cursor on "Toolbars" on the top of the list, and then you'll see Pokki is still there under "Address""Link""Tablet PC input panel").
I know it doesn't show up on the toolbar if you don't check it, but do you have a solution to completely remove it from the said "Toolbars" list too?

Thank you so much.

Hi Emily,

The first thing we’ll want to do is check the registry.

Did you do the following?

1. Open regedit (search for it in the start menu search if you are unfamiliar on how to get to it)
2. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pokki
3. If the Pokki still exists, please delete it

Also, there is another folder that should be checked as well.

1. In regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
2. If there is a Pokki registry entry in there, please select it and delete it
