Pokki error message

abnjack Aug 28, 2015 08:27AM PDT

I receive the following error message when I click on my Pokki Start Menu.
'The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'PokkiStartMenu.lnk' refers to is unavailable'.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that did not work.

The first step is to find out where the link is currently pointing. Being a taskbar button makes it a little more difficult.

  1. Right click on the Pokki Start Menu icon in the taskbar
  2. In the menu that pops up, near the bottom, will be the line, “Pokki Start Menu”. Right-click on that line
  3. In the next menu that pops up, left-click on “Properties”
  4. This will bring up the properties menu for Pokki
  5. In the “Target” field it should say, on of the following:
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pokki\Engine\HostAppService.exe /OPEN"menu"
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pokki\Engine\ServiceHostApp.exe /OPEN"menu"

If the “Target” field is different, copy the current value down and save it somewhere.

If the field matches, then open Windows Explorer and enter ‘%LOCALAPPDATA%\Pokki\Engine\’ into the location bar and verify that the directory/file exists. If it exists, then try replacing the current value with one of the options from above (the file name will be one or the other so use the one that exists), clicking okay, and trying the menu again.

Hope that gets you going again!
